LUCKNOW, May 5 -- Work on the Kanpur and Agra Metro rail projects-key infrastructure initiatives under CM Yogi Adityanath-is moving ahead swiftly, with the first corridors in both the cities set to be completed by December, said a government press release on Sunday. In Kanpur, 72% of corridor-1, which stretches from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta, is already complete. The 6.7-kilometre underground section between Kanpur Central and Moti Jheel is complete and the remaining construction is progressing steadily. A 15-km section of the corridor is already operational, providing Metro services to a large portion of the city, it said. Meanwhile, work on Kanpur's corridor-2-from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology to Barra (8.6 km)-is also underway. In Agra, 52% of work on corridor-1 (Sikandra to Taj East Gate, 14.27 km) has been completed. A 6-km section from Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar is already operational, linking major tourist landmarks, including the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort, the press release added....
