LUCKNOW, June 1 -- It has been six months since the Uttar Pradesh government appointed a seven-member juvenile justice selection committee for appointing members of the district level child welfare committees (CWC) and juvenile justice boards (JJB). However, delay in the joining of the chairman and a member of the committee has hampered the formation of the new CWCs and JJBs.

Under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules 2007, the government had notified the panel on November 16, 2018, for a one-year period.

The panel was supposed to appoint members of CWCs and JJBs in each of the 75 districts of the state for a term of three years.
