LUCKNOW, Aug. 6 -- A sitting minister in the Yogi Adityanath government was left 'shocked' after being snubbed by officials over a prolonged power outage in a Sitapur village. For nearly 20 days, a transformer in the village remained defunct, leaving locals without power. Concerned over the delay, Suresh Rahi, the minister of state for prisons, personally intervened. After failing to reach Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) managing director Riya Kejriwal, the minister contacted junior engineer (JE) Ramesh Kumar Mishra, asking him to expedite the transformer's replacement. However, the JE reportedly told the minister: "Come yourself, get the transformer removed and install a new one too." Angered by this insubordination, Rahi reached the site and staged a sit-in protest, demanding immediate action. In the evening, state energy minister AK Sharma took to X, announcing the suspension of the JE in question and regretting the state of affairs in his department. "The inappropriate conduct by the JE in Hargaon, Sitapur district, with the Hon'ble Minister of state in the state government, Shri Suresh Rahi, is completely unacceptable. Moreover, the said JE's insensitivity towards public grievances and laxity in his duties is inexcusable. Therefore, JE Shri Ramesh Mishra has been suspended with immediate effect," the minister wrote on X....
