Junior doctors' strike at JNMC enters third day, services hit
AGRA, May 9 -- Health services at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) remained affected for the third consecutive day as junior doctors continued their strike on Friday over the suspension of three resident doctors.
Patients were unable to secure admissions as the stalemate persisted.
"There has been no change in the situation as the strike continued on Friday," said Mohd Naved Khan, AMU proctor.
Three resident doctors at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College were suspended on Wednesday following violence at the medical college on Tuesday night, which allegedly involved a physical altercation between some postgraduate medical students and two male attendants of a female patient.
The suspended resident doctors include Dr Mohammad Talha Khursheed, Dr Shavez and Dr Aqil Husain. Mohd Naved Khan confirmed the suspension.
The action followed a complaint filed by a woman patient's family member, Shabana Begum, who alleged that a group of resident doctors assaulted them after a verbal altercation on Tuesday night at the hospital's trauma centre....
