Jewellery worth lakhs stolen from Mahant's residence
Varanasi, May 21 -- In a theft incident, valuables including family heirloom jewellery and Rs 3 lakh in cash were reported stolen from the Tulsi Ghat residence of professor Vishwambhar Nath Mishra, Mahant of the Sankatmochan Temple and a faculty member at IIT-BHU. The incident came to light on Monday upon prof Mishra's return to Varanasi.
According to police officials, prof Mishra had been in Delhi with his wife, Abha Mishra, due to her ill health.
Upon returning home, he discovered that the latch of a room was broken and two cupboards had been forced open. The theft was immediately reported by the Mahant's public relations officer, Ashok Kumar Pandey. htc...
