Jeweller shot, robbed of Rs 5l in Kaushambi
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 18 -- A jeweller was shot and robbed of jewellery worth approximately Rs 5 lakh by miscreants near Sasur Khaderi river in Korron village, under the Manjhanpur police station area of Kaushambi, on Sunday morning. The businessman, Deepak Verma, sustained a bullet injury to his shoulder but is now in stable condition after receiving treatment at a medical college. A case has been registered against unknown individuals.
According to reports, Verma, a resident of Korron village who owns a jewellery shop at Faizipur intersection, was on his way to his shop on his bike with a bag full of jewellery when five miscreants on two bikes overtook and stopped him near a bridge outside the village. When Verma resisted an attempt to snatch his bag, the miscreants began assaulting him. One of them then shot him with a pistol, hitting his left shoulder, causing him to fall unconscious. The miscreants subsequently fled with the bag of jewellery.
Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that a case has been registered , and two teams were formed to investigate the loot. He added that the businessman's condition was out of danger.HTC...
