GORAKHPUR, June 27 -- A jeweller and his son sustained bullet injuries after armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire on them late Wednesday night in Bhagwanpur village under the Khajni police station limits. The attack, suspected to be a fallout of a three-month-old enmity over a scuffle during a volleyball match, created panic and tension in the area. The victims, identified as Umesh Jaiswal and his son Rohan Jaiswal, were initially admitted to BRD Medical College but were later referred to Lucknow for advanced treatment. Following the incident, police have intensified security in the village, and two teams have been formed to apprehend the assailants. According to SP North Jitendra Kumar, the attack appears to be the result of an old rivalry. A case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by Suresh Jaiswal, father of the injured Umesh Jaiswal. In the FIR, Umesh Jaiswal stated that his son Rohan runs a jewellery shop at Badhad crossing. He alleged that Durga Singh, a resident of Bhauwapar, had been holding a grudge against Rohan since a clash between their children occurred three months ago during a volleyball game....
