Jan Jagrukta Abhiyan 2.0: Educating public about three new criminal laws
	
		
				LUCKNOW, Nov. 3 -- The three-day awareness campaign 'Jan Jagrukta Abhiyan 2.0' (public awareness campaign 2.0)' on India's newly implemented criminal laws entered its second day in Lucknow on Sunday.
A government-initiated, nationwide effort to educate citizens about the newly implemented criminal laws that came into effect on July 1, 2024, the campaign aims to bridge the knowledge gap between law enforcement and the public on the newly enacted laws which replaced nearly 200-year-old colonial criminal codes. While police personnel have now been trained in the new legal provisions, common citizens remain unaware, prompting this outreach.
The campaign is being held under the directives of state DGP Rajeev Krishna to familiarise citizens with the three new criminal laws Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) which replaced the IPC, the CrPC and the Evidence Act across India last year.
ACE digital vans take law awareness to streets
Under the leadership of Lucknow police commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar and supervision of joint CP (law & order) Amit Verma, DCP crime Kamlesh Kumar Dixit, additional DCP crime Kiran Yadav, and ACP crime Sushil Kumar Yadav, ACE digital display vans were flagged off again for the second day. These vans, operated by SWAT & surveillance in-charge Shivananad Mishra and his team, are displaying key provisions of the new laws at 30 minute intervals at major intersections of the city....
