Srinagar, Aug. 23 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday decided to take over the management of 215 private schools mostly affiliated with Falah-e-Aam Trust, part of banned Jamaat-e-Islami. According to a government order, district deputy commissioners after due verification will nominate fresh managing bodies for the concerned schools in due course. Jamaat-e-Islami was banned for five years in 2019 under the UAPA for being an "illegal association". In February 2024, the ban was extended till 2029. Thousands of students mostly from poor families are enrolled in these schools across the Valley....
