Kanpur, March 23 -- A school van driver and his accomplice have been booked for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in a village under the Kotwali police station area, in Jalaun district, officials said on Saturday. The accused reportedly threatened the minor with circulating a video of the incident to silence her. According to the complaint filed by the survivor's father, the incident occurred on March 17 when the driver, identified as Atul, visited the girl's residence with an accomplice. The latter allegedly stood guard outside while Atul assaulted the Class VI student inside her house. The accused allegedly filmed the act and threatened to leak the footage if she disclosed the crime to anyone. The traumatised child remained silent until her family, noticing behavioural changes, pressed her. "A case has been registered under relevant sections of BNS and the POCSO Act. The medical examination of the survivor has been conducted, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused," said CO (Kotwali) Shailendra Vajpayee.
