ITBP jawan among two killed in bus mishap; 20 others hurt
Meerut, Oct. 30 -- Two people, including an ITBP jawan, were killed, and more than 20 others were injured after a Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus crashed into a stationary truck in Budaun district in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred on Kachhla Road in the Ujhani area around 1am. Ujhani circle officer Devendra Singh said the bus from the Agra depot was carrying 25 people when it collided with the truck. Police personnel arrived at the scene and took up rescue efforts.
All the injured were taken to the community health centre (CHC) in Ujhani, where two of the victims succumbed to their injuries. The deceased were identified as bus driver Hakim Singh, 45, from Agra, and passenger Dharmendra Kumar, 46, from Mainpuri.
According to police, Dharmendra Kumar, who hailed from Gordhana in Mainpuri, was posted in the 36th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police in Haldwani. He was returning to duty after celebrating Diwali and Chhath with his family....
