ISARC should take agri innovations to farmers: Min Baldev Aulakh
VARANASI, Aug. 31 -- Minister of state for agricultural education and research, Baldev Singh Aulakh, on Saturday praised the ongoing research and innovations at the International Rice Research Institute - South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) in Varanasi, emphasising the importance of translating these advancements into practical solutions for farmers to boost their productivity and income.
Leading a delegation to the institute, Aulakh was welcomed by ISARC director Dr Sudhanshu Singh and the scientific team. During his visit, the minister toured several key facilities and interacted with researchers and staff.At the Education Technology Studio, Aulakh observed the development of digital training materials and e-learning modules designed for farmers, students, and agricultural extension officers. He commended the institute's efforts in knowledge dissemination and capacity building.
"It is important to take these solutions directly to the farmers to enhance their agricultural productivity and income," the minister reiterated during his visit.The delegation also reviewed ongoing work at the Greenhouse Gas) plots, where scientists are measuring and working to reduce emissions from paddy cultivation-an initiative aligned with sustainable farming practices. The Minister was briefed on ISARC's research in regenerative agriculture, aimed at improving soil health and promoting environmentally friendly farming techniques.
At the Agricultural Equipment Laboratory, Aulakh witnessed demonstrations of modern farming machinery. He also visited the SpeedBreed facility, where efforts are underway to rapidly develop new, improved rice varieties. htc...
