PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 6 -- Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has started issuing notices to people encroaching on its underground oil pipeline. On Saturday, the first day of the drive, notices were placed in front of 25 buildings on the Barauni-Prayagraj underground pipeline. Indian Oil, along with the municipal corporation's enforcement team, issued notices to owners of buildings constructed above or within the restricted zone of the oil pipeline in Dariyabad, Kakrahaghat, and Shastrinagar. The notice directs the occupants to vacate the designated areas within 15 days, warning that Indian Oil will be compelled to take action if the encroachments are not removed within the stipulated period. Prior to issuing the notices, a confidential survey was conducted within the restricted pipeline area to identify and list the encroachers. Before issuing the notices, the Indian Oil team has been using specialised equipment to detect encroachments along the pipeline. According to reports, a guest house in the Kareli area and a section of a municipal road in Dariyabad have also been identified as encroachments on the pipeline. Kareli reportedly has the highest number of illegal constructions along the route. A road inauguration board is also placed above the pipeline. Colonel Dinesh Tanwar, in-charge of the municipal corporation's enforcement team, said that notices were sent to people who had encroached the pipeline within a 200-meter radius on the first day.
