Interstate gang selling adulterated fuel busted
LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh special task force (STF) on Tuesday arrested five members of an interstate gang involved in selling adulterated petrol and diesel on the outskirts of Lucknow, confirmed senior police officials. A large quantity of petrol, diesel, solvent, and adulterated fuel was seized from a distribution centre the gang had set up near Lodhamau village.
The STF team had been monitoring the gang following intelligence inputs about their activities. In a press release issued to the media, STF officials stated that the gang used to siphon petrol and diesel from tankers and mix it with chemicals such as ethanol and solvent to produce adulterated fuel. This fuel was then distributed to various locations in and around Lucknow at prices ranging from Rs.75 to Rs.80 per litre.
During the operation, the STF seized a large quantity of adulterated fuel and other materials, including 1800 liters of ethanol/solvent, 600 liters of petrol, 200 liters of ethanol/solvent and petrol mixture, a tanker containing 15,000 liters of petrol and 5,000 liters of diesel, as well as vehicles such as a pickup vehicle and two cars.
A senior STF official said the arrested suspects have been identified as Ramu Yadav, Sukhbir Kumar, Sujit Kumar (tanker driver), Rinku Singh, and Mohammad Dinu. htc...
