VARANASI, Aug. 25 -- IMS-BHU said the integration of its Picture Archiving and Communication System or PACS interface with the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) at the Trauma Centre has reduced waiting time for patients, lowered operational costs and enhanced diagnostic precision. Patients don't have to carry physical copies of their radiology reports since the system stores them, an official said. Commissioned in February this year, the integrated system has reduced a patient's turnaround time--from registration to consultation with a doctor, medical test (if any) to receiving its report-- to under two hours from five-six hours earlier, said Prof Saurabh Singh, the in-charge of Trauma Centre at IMS-BHU, which earlier used to be five to six hours.
