Meerut, March 10 -- A controversial social media post related to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has triggered anger among Hindu organisations in Bareilly district. Police have registered a case against a local youth after he allegedly posted a video on Instagram that was widely circulated. According to police, the accused shared a 12-second video in which he made remarks about the war between Jews and Muslims and questioned why people in India were raising slogans about it. The video quickly went viral on social media, drawing strong reactions and leading to protests from members of Hindu groups. The issue came to light after Himanshu Patel, president of the youth wing of the Hindu Jagran Manch in Bareilly, posted the video clip on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He tagged Uttar Pradesh Police and Bareilly Police in his post and demanded strict action against the accused. Taking cognisance of the complaint, police immediately began investigating the matter. Based on a complaint filed by sub-inspector Mohit Kumar, who is the in-charge of the local police outpost, an FIR was registered at Izzatnagar Police Station. During the investigation, police identified the person in the video as Salim Ansari, son of Babuddin Ansari, a resident of Dhaurera Mafi under the jurisdiction of Izzatnagar police station. Manush Pareek, SP, City, said the accused had posted the controversial reel on Instagram, and its circulation on social media allegedly disturbed social harmony in the area. Police have registered a case against Mohammad Sharif alias Salim Ansari under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
