Inspector who escorted Atiq's son to Jhansi jail suspended
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 12 -- A senior inspector was suspended for security lapses during the transfer of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed's son Ali Ahmed from the Naini central jail to the Jhansi district jail on October 1.
Also, a departmental inquiry has been ordered against Ashok Kumar, who allegedly allowed Ali to speak to media persons outside the Jhansi jail.
As per reports, Ali Ahmed, from outside the jail, appealed to the UP chief minister to give him relief from cases against him and that he should not be 'troubled' any more.
Statements from other police personnel who escorted Ali to Jhansi will also be recorded.
According to Prayagraj joint commissioner of police Ajay Pal Sharma, the inspector was suspended owing to lapse in the security of Ali Ahmed.
Ali had been in Naini jail for 38 months. He surrendered in a Prayagraj court on July 30, 2022. Also, an online video from inside the Jhansi jail purportedly shows Ali. Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur had demanded a high-level investigation into the matter....
