PATNA, Nov. 24 -- Employment generation and curbing migration - both interlinked issues - have been central to two consecutive Bihar Assembly elections. Delivering on these promises will be a major challenge for the new Bihar government as it seeks to live up to its commitments and meet public expectations over the next five years. While the ministers are still taking charge of their departments, with water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary doing it on Sunday and Rural development minister Shrawan Kumar to do it on Monday, home minister Samrat Choudhary and industry minister Dilip Jaiswal visited Tarapur and Kishanganj respectively after assuming charge. Samrat also did a roadshow in open jeep in his constituency Tarapur. Jaiswal, who is also the state president of the BJP, said that now industries would be set up in all the districts and within a month, a detailed roadmap would be developed. "Our government has two main priorities - rule of law and generation of employment opportunities and both the responsibilities have come to the BJP," he added. Jaiswal said that the message on ensuring rule of law has been sent loud and clear. For industrialisation and employment generation for the youth, the department will work in mission mode to prepare a detailed roadmap within a month to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed Bihar. "As providing government jobs to all is not possible, the industry department has to work on industrialisation. The Centre has also come up with big labour reforms to facilitate hassle-free work environment and we will also like big industries to come here and join Bihar's development story," he added. He said different avenues would be explored to bring in different types of industries in Bihar to create more and more employment opportunities. "There will be rapid industrialisation in the state to give employment to youth. We will also invite big industries and explore avenues for emerging semi conductor industry through favourable policy," he added. Water resources department (WRD) minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, who also holds the charge of building construction industry, held a review meeting with officials on Sunday. WRD was with him earlier also. He underlined the need for involving more and more young engineers in the implementation of schemes in the WRD to develop a new work culture with youthful energy. "The effort is to consolidate and strengthen the existing system and ensure timely and effective implementation of schemes for realising optimal potentials," he added. Referring to approaching Rabi season, he said all efforts should be made to augment irrigation potential to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the gag end of the canals. The flood protection work should also commence in advance and the embankment area should be extended. The main identity of WRD is with strong irrigation network and effective flood protection and constant monitoring," he added....
