New Delhi, June 17 -- Indian authorities are relocating some Indian students in Iran to safer places in the face of continuing Israeli attacks and are exploring "other feasible options" to ensure the safety of Indians, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said on Monday. The Indian embassy in Tehran is "continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety", the ministry said in a statement following a protest in Srinagar on Sunday by parents of Indian students in Kashmir. "In some cases, students are being relocated with [the] Embassy's facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination. Further updates will follow," the ministry said. Iran is currently home to over 4,000 Indian nationals, about half of them students. Many Indian students in Iran are from J&K and are enrolled in medical and other professional courses. Dozens of people participated in the protest in Srinagar on Sunday, urging the government to evacuate Indian students from Iran. They said some of the students were in cities targeted by Israeli strikes. J&K CM Omar Abdullah said in a social media post on Sunday that he had spoken to external affairs minister S Jaishankar on the situation in Iran. Asif Gulzar, from Kashmir, who is a second year MBBS student at Iran's Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical sciences said students are in a state of panic. "We have been living in a dormitory since the war started... we are hoping that we will be relocated soon and evacuated from Iran to our homes in India," Gulzar said. Gulzar's classmate Sana Khan said she saw drones flying above her dormitory. "It's affecting our mental well-being... Most of us are afraid we might be left behind because we're a small group." Srinagar resident Sheikh Mohammad Azhan, who is studying at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, said, "Every night, we hear the sounds of explosions, air strikes and it is becoming very difficult for us to sleep peacefully... Last night, there was a blast just 1 km away from our dorm. The Embassy is relocating us from Tehran to outer city part, which is a safer place..."...
