In women's safety push, police roll out 360deg aid for sexual offence survivors
LUCKNOW, Dec. 5 -- Lucknow Police rolled out a 360deg support framework for survivors of sexual offences on Wednesday and strengthened the deployment of anti-Romeo squads in plainclothes around schools and colleges as part of a fresh safety drive across the city.
The decisions were taken during a training and briefing session for Mission Shakti centre in-charges and anti-Romeo squad heads at the Police Lines auditorium, chaired by joint commissioner of police (JCP) (law and order) Babloo Kumar.
"The 360deg mechanism aims to offer survivors complete assistance, covering immediate response, counselling, rehabilitation and sustained help through legal procedures so that no complainant is left to handle the process without support," Lucknow police said in a statement.
Anti-Romeo squads in plain clothes will now be deployed more effectively near schools and colleges to prevent harassment and ensure quick intervention in case of any misconduct, JCP (L&O) said.
He also stated that CUG (closed user group) mobile numbers will soon be introduced for all Mission Shakti centres at police stations, enabling women to contact officers directly and helping teams respond faster to distress calls, according to a police press note....
