In Meerut, 17-year-old shot by friend while making reel
Meerut, Dec. 29 -- A 17-year-old boy got accidentally shot with a country-made gun when he and his friends were trying to make a reel for social media, in Meerut's Sardhana town, police said.
The boy, identified as Faheem from the town's Ghosiyan, was injured on Friday afternoon after being hit by a bullet in his left palm. He was admitted to the local community health centre. A video purportedly of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Faheem's family has blamed one of Faheem's minor acquaintances, who is also a minor, for the incident. In the video, the accused minor can be seen brandishing and firing a country-made pistol. However, the police have so far neither recovered the weapon used in the incident nor arrested the accused, prompting Faheem's family to allege laxity in police action.
Circle officer Ashutosh Kumar said that a case has been registered against the minor accused based on a complaint submitted by outpost in-charge Aditya. He assured that police teams were conducting raids. According to the police, preliminary investigation suggests that the incident was carried out to gain more likes and shares on social media.
Police further revealed that the accused was making a reel along with his friends and it had been decided that only aerial firing would be done. However, in a moment of recklessness, the accused allegedly lost control and fired at Faheem instead....
