In Bareilly, newlyweds assault, strangle man
Meerut, Dec. 11 -- A newlywed couple was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of 22-year-old Mukesh Kumar in Bareilly's Sainthal area earlier this week, police said on Wednesday.
Superintendent of police (SP)-North Mukesh Chandra Mishra said Mukesh's body was found in a wheat field on December 5. A postmortem examination revealed that Mukesh had been strangled and brutally beaten.
During the probe, suspicion turned towards Shanu and his wife Nagma from a nearby village. The two were taken into custody. In his statement, Shanu said he found his wife in a compromising position with Mukesh on the night of December 4. Enraged, he assaulted both of them. As the situation worsened, the two apologised and the matter seemed to have settled.
Later, Nagma allegedly persuaded Shanu and took the lead in planning Mukesh's murder. She lured Mukesh to a forested area near a dargah under a pretext. There, she reportedly attacked him, after which she and Shanu strangled him. Mukesh died of suffocation....
