In 3 years, vigilance dept made 78 arrests: Dhami
Dehradun, Oct. 28 -- The state's vigilance department arrested 78 offending employees in the last three years, under the government's drive against corruption, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Monday.
In the last three years, the department's anti-corruption helpline received nearly 10,000 complaints, resulting in 62 trap operations and four cases under open investigation.
Addressing the launch event of the public awareness programme "Vigilance - Our Shared Responsibility" at the Secretariat in Dehradun, Dhami said that corruption would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The programme is scheduled to be held throughout the state until November 9- the State Foundation Day, officials said.
Dhami, meanwhile, directed all departments to widely publicize it.
To mark the occasion, the chief minister administered an oath of integrity to the officials present. He also honoured Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, saying that Patel dedicated every moment of his life to the unity, integrity, and building of a strong nation. The awareness programme was held to commemorate his birth anniversary, he said.
Dhami added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not only determined to create a corruption-free country but also displayed the commitment necessary to implement it on the ground.
"Under his leadership, a new work culture has developed in the country. Governance and administration have been made people-centric to make them transparent and accountable," he said.
Chief secretary Anand Bardhan, who was also present, said that for the strength of society and administration, it is essential for all personnel to be truthful, honest, and disciplined in their work.
