VARANASI, Dec. 7 -- The trauma centre of IMS-BHU will extend its orthopaedic operation theatre hours from December 15. Professor Saurabh Singh, professor in-charge of the trauma centre, said that the OTs will now run from 8am to 10pm with a dedicated surgical team. Earlier, the theatres operated only from 8am to 4pm. Radiology, the blood bank, laboratory, and ICU services will also support patients during the longer hours. Prof Singh said the aim of this step is to provide timely and effective surgical care, reducing the risk of death and long-term disability in serious cases. He explained that the new arrangement is being carried out with the joint efforts of the Orthopaedics, Anaesthesia, Nursing, and other departments. All required equipment and resources have been prepared to ensure smooth work during the extended hours. The Trauma Centre currently treats about 120 emergency patients every day and receives more than 2.47 lakh OPD patients every year. It has 17 operation theatres. htc...
