Agra, Sept. 23 -- The Agra police arrested three people involved in the manufacture and supply of illegal arms, as part of the crackdown by the state police against illegal arms units ahead of panchayat elections in the state. The raid was conducted at an abandoned house in Doki town, close to the boundaries of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Syed Ali Abbas, the deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Agra East (Rural), said that the police had been getting inputs about increased use of arms in the area. "We raised an alert in view of the crackdown in compliance with the directions received from the commissioner of Agra Police's office and DGP," he said. "Police team raided an abandoned house in Doki area and arrested three namely Siyaram, Sachin and Raghuveer engaged in illegal business of arms manufacturing and its supply not only in nearby areas but also to the rural belt of adjoining Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh state," Abbas said. "Siyaram is a notorious name having skills in the manufacture of illegal arms and was arrested five years ago with illegal arms. They had a connection with Monu Chambal and Jeetu Chambal, arrested recently for running a private shooting range in Rajasthan. Illegal arms including AK-47s were seized from them," stated the DCP. "Fifteen illegal firearms, including rifles, were recovered and seized along with raw material. These arms are manufactured to meet orders received by arrested accused in view of Panchayat elections in UP," said Abbas while talking to the media on Monday....
