IITK, MHA sign MoU to establish census data research workstation
Kanpur, March 6 -- The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ministry of home affairs (MHA) to establish a census data research workstation at its computer centre on Tuesday. This collaboration aims to enhance research capabilities by providing access to vital census data for scholars, researchers, and students.The MoU was signed by prof Manindra Agrawal, director, IIT Kanpur, and Sheetal Verma, director, census operations and civil registration, MHA, with senior faculty and officials from both institutions in attendance.IIT Kanpur is now the first technology institute in Uttar Pradesh and the third institution in India to host a census data research workstation. The workstation will provide digital access to census data from the 1991 to 2011 census, including published tables and micro-level data, enabling in-depth analysis of India's socio-economic and demographic trends.Prof Agrawal said, "This partnership with the ministry of home affairs is a significant step for IIT Kanpur in advancing data-driven research.
