IIT-K director proposes 'Cognitive Gym' to preserve original thought
Varanasi, April 9 -- Introducing the concept of a 'Cognitive Gym', director of IIT Kanpur Prof Manindra Agrawal on Wednesday said that a mental counterpart to physical gyms is now essential to preserve original thinking in the age of AI.
Prof Agrawal was addressing the gathering virtually-the 'AdhyAI: AI Summit'. The summit, organised through the joint collaboration of Think India, Meta, the department of IT and electronics (UP), and IIT BHU, concluded on Wednesday with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence and nation-building.
The summit saw participation from over 350 delegates from prestigious institutions across the country, focusing on the emerging dimensions of Artificial Intelligence and its role in nation-building.
Sunil Kumar Sharma, minister of IT & electronics, joined virtually to emphasise the government's commitment to using AI to bridge the 'Digital Divide' and solve rural problems to achieve a truly inclusive 'Viksit Bharat'.
Meanwhile, Prof Amit Patra, director of IIT BHU, highlighted the symbolic appearance of the letters 'AI' within the word 'INDIA,' suggesting it as a sign of the country's destined leadership in the sector. Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, vice chancellor of BHU, advocated for 'Conscious AI,' warning students to use technology with a sense of social responsibility to avoid becoming 'mindless' consumers....
