VARANASI, Nov. 27 -- A student of Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) Pharmaceutical engineering at IIT-BHU died after suffering a serious head injury after his scooter skidded on the campus on Monday night. The pillion rider sustained minor injuries. Identified as Abhishek Upadhyay in early 20s, the student was in the ninth semester of IDD pharmaceutical engineering. He was riding the scooter near Dhanraj Giri Hostel near Hyderabad gate when the scooter skidded and fell. He fell on his side and was seriously injured. The IIT-BHU Proctorial Board officials rushed him to the trauma centre, BHU, where he died late at night. Police conducted a post-mortem on Tuesday and handed over the body to his kin. It is being reported that he was not wearing a helmet. Lanka police station in-charge, inspector Rajkumar, stated that Abhishek was a resident of Sundarpur.
