IIIT Allahabad upgrades all 12 MTech courses
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 8 -- The upcoming academic session will offer a completely revamped MTech curriculum for the aspiring technology professionals enrolling at the Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A).
The institute has restructured all 12 of its MTech programmes, updating course content and renaming several programmes to reflect evolving industry trends and the increasing role of artificial intelligence, institute officials said.
The changes were approved at a recent Senate meeting chaired by IIIT-A director Prof Mukul Sharad Sutaone, marking a significant step towards modernising the institute's postgraduate academic offerings.
According to officials, the revised curriculum has been designed to equip students with skills closely aligned with current corporate requirements and emerging technological developments. As part of the overhaul, the MTech programmes across departments have been made more specialisation-oriented, a move that will take effect from the new academic session, officials maintain.
IIIT-A currently offers 12 MTech programmes across three departments-Information Technology (IT), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Applied Sciences. Acting on the recommendation of Senate member Prof Vikram M Gadre, all academic programmes were reviewed under the "Review of Academic Programmes" exercise, leading to changes in programme names as well as a comprehensive revamp of course curricula.
Officials explained that the initiative aims to enhance students' proficiency in modern technologies while strengthening industry linkages and employment prospects.
In the ECE department, new specialisations such as Communication Engineering, Communication and Signal Processing, and Microelectronics and Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) have been introduced.
For the IT department, high-demand areas include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Human-Machine Interaction and Immersive Technology, Software Engineering and Automation, and Networks, Systems and Computing have been included....
