IIIT-A to launch M Tech prog in QIT from July
PRAYAGRAJ, March 27 -- The Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A) is set to introduce a two-year (four-semester) M Tech program in quantum information and technology (QIT) starting July 2026, marking a major step in advancing education and research in the emerging quantum field.
The announcement was made by IIIT-A director Prof Mukul Sharad Sutaone during the inaugural session of the four-day workshop on quantum information and technology (FQIT) on the Jhalwa campus on Thursday.
Prof Sutaone said the multidisciplinary program is designed to produce skilled professionals for the growing quantum ecosystem. "The program will provide students with a strong foundation in both theoretical concepts and practical applications of quantum technologies," he added.
The MTech program will cover key areas including quantum computing and simulation, quantum information and communication, quantum materials and devices, quantum neural networks, and quantum and post-quantum cryptography.
Sutaone also highlighted collaborations with premier institutions such as C-DAC Pune, Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), Prayagraj, and IISER-Pune, ensuring students receive high-quality training and research exposure.
