Lucknow, May 24 -- For the first time in 15 years, the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan (IGP), which is a hub for government events, exhibitions, cultural programmes, and educational conferences, will undergo a comprehensive hi-tech upgrade. The Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury auditoriums at the IGP are set to be modernised with upgraded interiors, advanced stage lighting, new electrical fittings, and a central public address system at a cost of around Rs 15 crore. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the project on the directions of vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, who confirmed that work would be carried out in three phases in over six months to avoid booking disruptions. A public address system similar to that used in airports and international terminals will be installed at IGP, enabling organisers to make announcements not only inside the auditoriums but also in galleries and pavilions for improved coordination during multi-event setups. Jupiter auditorium, the largest with 1,500 seats, will be upgraded first, followed by 600-seat Mars and 400-seat Mercury auditoriums in second and third phases respectively. "These halls remain booked throughout the year. To ensure minimal inconvenience to people, we've planned the work phase-wise," Kumar said. Built in 2008 and opened for public in 2010, IGP has so far undergone only routine maintenance. "This will be the first major upgrade in 15 years. The complex is heavily used for government events, exhibitions, cultural programmes, and educational conferences. We're making it future-ready," Kumar said. The IGP campus also houses Pluto auditorium, Earth block with small halls, conference rooms, VIP lounges, and four banquet lawns with a capacity ranging from 300 to 1,500 guests....
