Dehradun, May 30 -- Chief secretary Anand Bardhan directed the officials concerned on Thursday to identify a list of potential tourist spots that could be developed in and around Mussoorie, citing the need for additional tourist destinations to accommodate the growing number of tourists and promote sustainable tourism in the area. Bardhan chaired a high-level meeting at the secretariat to discuss the development of infrastructure and civic amenities in Mussoorie, one of Uttarakhand's prominent hill stations. The meeting focused on road connectivity, traffic congestion, and the enhancement of public utilities in the region, officials said. Highlighting growing concerns over traffic congestion, Bardhan emphasised the need to improve alternative routes leading into and around the town. He directed the regional transport officer and police authorities to ensure strict enforcement of the traffic management plan for Mussoorie. The chief secretary instructed the widening and improvement of Jhadhpani Road, Camel's Back Road, Landour Road, and Khattapani Road. He also assured that the state government would provide financial support to the municipal body for the upgradation of these roads. To strengthen internal mobility, he proposed developing a comprehensive internal connectivity plan, including a survey for a ropeway system in the town. In a move to ease pressure on Mall Road, he called for the resumption of golf carts operation, which would facilitate smooth transport for both locals and tourists.
