ICCCON-2025: Anupriya Patel, Pathak inaugurate cardiology meet in Varanasi
VARANASI, Sept. 20 -- Union minister of state for health and family welfare Anupriya Patel and deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday jointly inaugurated the three-day, 32nd annual edition of the Indian College of Cardiology Conference (ICCCON-2025). The gathering is being attended by over 1,000 cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and physicians from India and abroad.
Delivering the keynote address at the inaugural session, Patel said that if we are to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047, we must first lay the foundation for a healthy India. Today, heart attack cases are increasing rapidly. Our government is committed to ensuring timely and proper treatment.
She added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Make in India" initiative, the production of medical devices, stents, and other life-saving medicines for heart disease is our biggest success. Through positive lifestyle changes, we can reduce the risk of heart attacks, she averred.
Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said that when heart attack cases are increasing so rapidly in the country, the role of cardiologists becomes crucial. It is a matter of concern that a large number of people in the age bracket of 20 and 50 are suffering from cardiac disease. The biggest reason behind this is the change in our lifestyle. The human body is precious; there is a need for extensive discussion on how to prevent it from falling ill. This conference, being held in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency, will prove to be a milestone in saving human lives. All the papers presented at the conference will also be very useful for the government.
