Meerut, July 21 -- In a shocking incident late Saturday night in Bareilly, a home guard on traffic duty was dragged nearly five kilometres on the bonnet of a speeding car after the driver tried to mow him down during a routine check. The driver, Daksh Srivastava, was arrested Sunday morning after a dramatic police chase. The incident occurred around 11:45 PM on the Bareilly-Delhi Highway near the Chaupula bridge. Home Guard Ajit Singh, 37, jumped onto the car's bonnet to avoid being crushed when Srivastava sped through a restricted lane meant for Kanwar pilgrims. Despite pleas to stop, the driver raced at over 100 km/h. TSI Gajendra Singh chased the car and alerted nearby police stations. Ajit managed to jump off when the car slowed. Police have booked him under charges including attempt to murder and assault on a government employee....
