Lucknow, Sept. 12 -- Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), Lucknow, has become one of the first airports in India to implement the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP). The programme was officially inaugurated on Thursday by Union home minister Amit Shah, who virtually unveiled dedicated FTI-TTP counters at the newly developed Terminal 3 (T3) of CCSIA. In addition to Lucknow, the Union home minister also inaugurated FTI-TTP facilities at Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode and Amritsar airports. With the inclusion of these new airports, the e-gates facility under the FTI-TTP is now available at a total of 13 airports across the country: Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Lucknow, Amritsar, Calicut, Thiruvananthapuram and Trichy. The FTI-TTP, an initiative from the central government, was launched in mid 2024. Unlike traditional immigration processes that often involve long queues and manual verification, the FTI-TTP uses a 'trusted traveller' model, offering fast-track clearance through e-Gates. Once approved, enrolled travellers will experience significantly reduced wait times and an overall smoother passage through immigration. At its core, the programme is about trust, technology and transparency. Through a secure registration and verification process, eligible travellers are pre-cleared by the Bureau of Immigration and added to a whitelist.
