Highway loot mastermind escapes police custody
Agra, Oct. 6 -- Causing a major embarrassment for Firozabad police, the mastermind of the Rs2 crore highway loot escaped custody on Sunday, just a day after being arrested along with five other gang members. Police had taken the accused, Naresh alias Bhoori, into custody for cash recovery when he gave them the slip on pretext of attending nature's call.
Earlier, Firozabad police had claimed a breakthrough with the arrest of six accused in connection with the September 30 loot in Makhanpur area. Armed criminals had intercepted a cash management company's vehicle, attacked driver Danji Patel, tied him up, and fled with Rs.2 crore. The driver was later abandoned on the Agra-Noida Expressway.
Three of the accused, including Naresh, carried rewards of Rs.25,000 each. The police PRO confirmed that Naresh managed to abscond from custody and a search operation has been launched. htc...
