High-voltage line pushes back Lko-Knp e-way completion timeline
LUCKNOW, June 19 -- Construction on the final leg of the 63-km Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway has hit a critical bottleneck, with work near Nadarganj stalled due to the pending relocation of a high-voltage power line. Operated by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), the line supplies electricity to the Nadarganj substation, an essential grid node for large parts of Lucknow, halting progress on a key viaduct in the area.
"Work cannot move forward in this section until the power line is shifted. Both NHAI and UPPCL are coordinating closely, and the issue should be resolved shortly," a senior official from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said.
Originally scheduled to be completed in July, the project's revised deadline now points to the end of September, with load testing and safety checks lined up throughout the month. Officials indicated the expressway could be ready for inauguration in the first week of October, subject to completion of the pending structural components.
Two key structures, the viaduct near Nadarganj and a Road Over Bridge (RoB) ahead of the Sai River, are yet to be completed. The RoB is expected to be finished by July 31, while the viaduct, currently on hold due to the UPPCL line, is slated for completion by August 31, according to the officials.
Project director Col Sharad Singh said another flyover along the corridor is also under construction and should be ready by the end of July. "Only minor patchwork remains across the route," he added....
