VARANASI, Sept. 8 -- Eight band operators and owners have been booked in Bhadohi district for allegedly playing high-decibel music during the Ganesh idol immersion and Barawafat processions. Police also seized eight sound systems, a senior officer said. The loud music caused severe inconvenience to elderly people and children, while public property such as electric wires and poles was damaged by vehicles carrying the sound setups. Traffic snarls also emerged after an ambulance was trapped in the congestion, the officer added. Taking cognisance, Bhadohi police registered two cases against the accused under sections 271, 289, 352, and 355 of the BNS and the Noise Pollution Regulation Act. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Shubham Agarwal said eight band setups had been seized, including two from Varanasi and one each from Pratapgarh and Jaunpur.
