Heritage-style makeover underway as LDA inspects Hazratganj, Naza stretch
LUCKNOW, Nov. 27 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has begun an upgrade across Hazratganj and the adjoining Naza Market zone, with a push toward pedestrian safety and uniform streetscape design. LDA vice-chairman Pratmesh Kumar inspected the progress on Wednesday and asked officials to complete all works within the set schedule.
Covering an 850-metre stretch from Hazratganj to the DM residence at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 16 crore, the project includes heritage-style streetlights on both sides of the carriageway while retaining the median lights. Building facades and signage across Hazratganj Market will follow a uniform colour palette, and pavements will be redesigned with improved finishes. Traders' requests for bigger signage boards have been cleared. Kumar reviewed the sample painting at the multi-level parking pump house and approved the final colour choice. At Naza Market, Kumar instructed officials to begin placemaking work at the Sudarshan statue point and the nearby park after a survey and action plan are completed within 15 days. He said the steps would help improve pedestrian movement and the overall public experience.
In a separate visit to the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal at Basant Kunj, Kumar asked authorities to finish the pending museum curation and related works within 15 days.
