Dharamshala, Oct. 5 -- With heavy rainfall expected in parts of Himachal Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Shimla office has sounded a yellow alert of heavy rain in seven districts of the state on October 5. The weather office has sounded a heavy rain alert in Una, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Lahaul-Spiti districts. However, an orange alert of heavy rain has been sounded for October 6 in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmaur and Lahaul-Spiti district. A yellow alert has been sounded in other districts of the state. A yellow alert of heavy rain has also been sounded in several districts of the state on October 7. According to MeT department officials, light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places on October 5 and 6, with heavy rainfall at isolated places on October 5 and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on October 6. Light to moderate rainfall likely at a few places on October 8, while light to moderate rainfall likely at many places on October 7 with heavy rainfall at isolated places. Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district suspended Machail Mata pilgrimage for three days from October 5 following an inclement weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an official said on Saturday.
