Lucknow, June 7 -- With an active western disturbance and no significant weather system nearby, dry and hot conditions are expected to prevail across Uttar Pradesh till June 10, according to the meteorological department. "There is a possibility of a heatwave in parts of Bundelkhand, Vindhyachal and adjoining southern UP on June 9 and 10. Temperatures may rise gradually by 3 to 5degC over the next 3-4 days," said Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist at the Lucknow Met office. A shift is expected from June 11 as easterly winds return, triggering rainfall over eastern UP, which will gradually move westward. This may bring relief from the heatwave and a dip in temperature by 2 to 3degC. On Friday, Lucknow recorded a maximum of 38.7degC and a minimum of 24.8degC. Saturday's forecast predicts a mainly clear sky with maximum and minimum temperatures around 41degC and 26degC respectively. Statewide, the weather is likely to remain dry.
