LUCKNOW, June 9 -- The Lucknow Meteorological Centre has predicted a short spell of heat wave in the southern part of the state from June 9 to 11. With the end of the effect of active weather systems, the weather has become dry and the maximum temperature in the southern part of the state increased extensively during the last 2 to 3 days, the weatherman said. The forecast for Uttar Pradesh is most likely dry weather over the state. Strong dusty winds are likely at isolated places over UP West. The forecast for the state capital is clear sky with the maximum and minimum temperature hovering around 43 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively. On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperature in Lucknow was 41.4 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively. Agra was the hottest place in the state with a temperature of 44.8degC, Jhansi in Bundelkhand also recorded a temperature of 44.7degC, while Prayagraj and Orai were the third hottest places with a temperature of 43.8degC. "Heat wave accompanied with dusty winds is likely at some places in Agra, Braj and Bundelkhand regions of western Uttar Pradesh during June 9 to 11, while heat wave is likely at some places in Vindhya, Kanpur and Varanasi regions of eastern Uttar Pradesh on June 9 and 10," said Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist at Lucknow meteorological station. "A new phase of rain will start from eastern Uttar Pradesh from June 11 and gradually move towards the western direction, causing a fall in temperature by 2 to 3degC," he added....
