PRAYAGRAJ, July 30 -- Rakesh Pande and Akhilesh Kumar Sharma were elected president and secretary of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA), respectively, on Tuesday. The polling had taken place on July 23 and 8,332 votes were counted, with lawyers exercising their franchise for 28 posts of office-bearers of HCBA. After counting of six days by the team led by chief returning officer - Radha Kant Ojha, senior advocate, the result for the posts of president and secretary of HCBA was announced first on Tuesday. The counting will continue for the remaining 26 posts of office-bearers of HCBA and the results are likely to be announced within two days. Rakesh Pande defeated his nearest rival CP Upadhyay by a margin of 193 votes. While Rakesh Pande obtained 2,121 votes, his nearest rival CP Upadhyay obtained 1,928 votes. Ashok Kumar Singh got 1,734 votes. For the post of secretary, Akhilesh Kumar Sharma defeated his nearest rival Ray Sahab Yadav by a huge margin of 937 votes. While Akhilesh Kumar Sharma obtained 2,885 posts, his nearest rival Ray Sahab Yadav obtained 1,948 votes. Santosh Kumar Mishra obtained 1,149 votes....
