HC to launch evening court facility from Jan
Jaipur, Dec. 22 -- Rajasthan high court is set to launch the evening court facility from January aiming to tackle the growing pendency of cases in the state.
Speaking to the media, the acting chief justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, said, "A proposal has already been made in this regard to run the evening court facility from 5pm to 7.30pm along with the regular schedule. It will be launched as a pilot project from January. Later, we may expand across all the courts in the state if it goes successful." It will be started in a Judicial Magistrate Court each in Jaipur and Jodhpur, he said.
"They will be run separately from the regular courts and will handle some specific cases such as ones under the Negotiable Instrument (NI) Act etc. These categories showed a high pendency in Rajasthan," said justice Sharma.
The high court administration will review the outcome of the project after three months and will take a further decision to expand it across the state.
According to National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), Rajasthan currently has 6.3 million cases pending in high courts of which over 1.4 million cases are at least 10 years old....
