HC to hear pleas in '98 blackbuck case on Sept 22
Jodhpur, July 29 -- The Rajasthan high court on Monday adjourned the hearing on the government's leave to appeal against Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam, and local resident Dushyant Singh, in connection with the alleged hunting of two blackbucks in 1998. The single bench of justice Manoj Kumar Garg scheduled the next hearing for September 22. The leave to appeal challenges the acquittal of the five accused. The judge directed, "The office is to attach the file of the criminal appeal, filed by accused Salman Khan before the Sessions Court, after registration, and list this matter on September 22, 2025."
Salman Khan is accused of poaching two blackbucks in Kankani village, Jodhpur district, during the shooting of film Hum Saath Saath Hain on the night of October 1 and 2, 1998. Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu, Neelam, and Dushyant Singh were charged with instigating Salman. In 2018, a chief judicial magistrate court in Jodhpur sentenced Salman Khan to five years in prison. The co-accused actors and Dushyant Singh were acquitted due to the benefit of the doubt....
