HC reserves verdict on FIR plea against Rahul
PRAYAGRAJ, April 9 -- The Allahabad high court on Wednesday reserved its order on a petition challenging a Sambhal court's decision rejecting an application seeking the registration of an FIR against Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, over his alleged controversial remarks in 2025.
The petitioner, Simran Gupta, alleged that Rahul Gandhi, during the inauguration of the AICC office in 2025, had remarked: "We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself."
She contended that the alleged remark hurt public sentiments across the country and amounted to a "seditious and anti-national statement made with the intent to destabilise the country".
Justice Samit Vikram D Chauhan reserved the order after hearing counsel for the petitioner and the state government at length.
"Heard Sri Rohit Nandan Pandey, learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri Manish Goyal, learned Additional Advocate General for the respondent-State. Judgment reserved," the court observed....
