HC rejects sixth bail plea of Bikru massacre accused
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 15 -- The Allahabad high court on August 11 rejected for the sixth time the bail application of a police officer Krishna Kumar Sharma in the 2020 Bikru massacre case who had allegedly informed the main accused gangster Vikas Dubey about the ensuing police raid against him and had relations with this gangster. As a result of the ambush made by the gangster, as many as eight policemen were killed in the incident on July 3, 2020.
Subsequently, the gangster Vikas Dubey was killed on July 10, 2020, when he tried to escape from custody when a police vehicle bringing him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident. A criminal case was registered against the applicant and the then station house officer of Chaubepur police station Vinay Kumar Tiwari alleging conspiracy on their part.
The fifth bail application of the applicant was rejected on May 12, 2025 and the court, while rejecting the bail application, granted him liberty to file fresh bail application after a reasonable time before this court or trial court.
Rejecting the bail application, Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery said , "The applicant has approached this court within a period of two months after his fifth bail application was rejected, which is not a reasonable period since while rejecting fifth bail application, this court had granted liberty to applicant to approach this court after a reasonable period".
However, the present bail application was filed by the applicant on July 8, 2025, mainly on ground that one of the co-accused, Vinay Kumar Tiwari, whose first bail application was also rejected along with applicant's first bail application on September 21, 2021, was granted bail on June 16, 2025 mainly on ground of long incarceration....
