LUCKNOW, Dec. 6 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday rejected an anticipatory bail plea of folk singer Neha Singh Rathore, who is accused of using derogatory remarks towards PM Narendra Modi and promoting hatred between communities with her allegedly provocative social media posts after the Pahalgam terror attack. Justice Brij Raj Singh passed the order on Rathore's plea seeking anticipatory bail in a case lodged against her in the Hazratganj police station, Lucknow. Rathore was booked by Hazratganj police in Lucknow in April this year under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) over her X posts, said government advocate Dr VK Singh, who opposed the plea. "In view of the aforesaid discussion, no case for anticipatory bail is made out. It is accordingly rejected. However, it is open for the applicant to seek legal remedy as may be available under law," the court ordered. In September this year, a division bench of the high court had refused to quash the FIR against the folk singer in this case. In its September 19 order, a division bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi directed her to appear before the investigating officer on September 26 and cooperate with the probe till filing of police report. The court had said the allegations against her prima facie disclosed cognisable offence, warranting a police investigation.
