PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 8 -- The Allahabad high court has refused to extend the stay on the arrest of album and film-maker Sunil Yadav following the recovery of the body of Anupama Yadav, an artiste he had reportedly signed for an album. Earlier on May 27, the court had stayed the arrest of the petitioner, Sunil Yadav, against whom an FIR had been lodged for allegedly kidnapping Anupama Yadav. A division bench comprising Justices Siddhartha Varma and Madan Pal Singh passed the order on August 4 after the additional government advocate (AGA) orally informed the court that Anupama's body had been recovered and identified by her mother. The court also granted time to the AGA to file an affidavit in support of this development. According to the prosecution, the informant, Sushmita Yadav, alleged that her sister Anupama Yadav was in love with Sunil Yadav (petitioner) and that they were going to get married in April. On February 19, 2025, Sunil allegedly visited their residence and told the family that he was taking Anupama to Nepal for wedding shopping. He took her away in a vehicle. Two hours later, Anupama reportedly called her brother, Surya Kumar Yadav, and informed him that Sunil was not taking her to Nepal but to Bihar. Her phone remained switched off thereafter. On February 22, Sunil allegedly answered a call and claimed that Anupama was not with him. The informant told the police she suspected Sunil had either sold her sister or killed her. Anupama was around 25 years old at that time. An FIR dated February 23, 2025 was registered under Sections 87 of the BNS at the Kotwali police station in Deoria district....
