PRAYAGRAJ, July 27 -- The Allahabad high court has given relief to Nagina MP and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar in the 2017 Saharanpur violence case, and directed the court below at Saharanpur to decide afresh on the discharge application moved by the MP in connection with the case. Justice Sameer Jain set aside the order whereby the trial court of Saharanpur had dismissed the discharge application moved by Chandrashekhar in this case. An FIR was lodged against Chandrashekhar on May 9, 2017 in Saharanpur alleging that he held a meeting without permission and incited arson and violence in the area. A chargesheet was filed against Chandrashekhar in this case. The court below took cognisance of the chargesheet and proceeded with the trial. Later, Chandrashekhar moved a discharge application in the case, which was rejected by the additional chief judicial magistrate's (ACJM's) court on March 10 this year.
